Introduction to
Kellyskins
Kellyskins is a game that has the advantage of serving many
purposes for ALL bowlers in social games, pennant and of course tournament
play.
By the very nature of only playing two ends per match ( one
skin), every team or player in (singles) has the chance to succeed against all
opposing teams, no matter how strong the opposition team is on paper.
Kellyskins allows all teams to play against each other,
with the best team coming out on top.
Concentration and the ability to play top bowls under
pressure is a feature of the Kellyskins format.
There are many games that we all play in where the scores
are close and the final result is determine only by the final ends - where
every bowl counts and the pressure is on to really play a top bowl - a resting
toucher or a conversion shot.
And yet when do we practice these shots?. A roll up or
practice on the green is not played under match conditions where the stakes
are high and every bowl conts.
Kellyskins is tough, and sometimes bowlers play lucky shots
to convert - it happens in all games - but Kellyskins is the fairest of them
all.
Consider: - all teams play each other - all teams play on
the same green and play on the same rinks, the ditch rink included.
Due to the vast range and flexability of the Kellyskins
format, numerous variations can be formulated to suit any combination of
players and teams, depending on the number of teams and the duration of the
time factor.
