Reynolds & Carrie Take Final WBT Qualifiers In Poole & Leicester
Sussex’s Kevin Carrie and Jamie Reynolds, from Peterborough, claimed the last qualifying slots in the World Bowls Tour & Professional Bowls Association UK National Qualifiers in Poole and Leicester - for the Scottish International Open in Perth.
After straight sets wins over both Michael Knight (West Berks) and Adam Tidby (Banister Park), Carrie reached the play-off final at the Dolphin club in Poole, Dorset, where he faced Simon Green (Betteshanger).
The 24-year-old from Bexhill continued his run of form, beating his Kent opponent 6-5, 7-4 to earn his place in the main draw of a World Bowls Tour ranking event for the first time.
At the other qualifying event at the Leicester Indoor Bowls Club, Jamie Reynolds made up for the disappointment of missing out in the earlier qualifying event for the International Open by reaching the ‘Scottish’ final after recovering from a set down in the semi-final against Neil Hope (Melton & District).
But the 30-year-old from Peterborough was on top throughout the final against Michael Kent (Barwell), beating his Leicestershire opponent 7-1, 8-3.
The 2008 Scottish International Open is the opening event of the 2008/09 World Bowls Tour season, and takes place at the Dewars Centre in Perth from 8-15 November.
